Food Pantry

The Slayton’s and the Paulson’s helped United Way and the Marathon County Hunger Coalition dismantle one of many sculptures at United Way’s annual United We Can event held at the Wausau Center Mall. Over 20,000 pounds of non-perishable food and several thousand dollars were donated to the food pantries in Marathon County of which First Presbyterian Church food pantry is a member.

First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry

First Presbyterian provides a food pantry twice each month on the first and third Tuesdays at the church between 1:00-2:00 PM. The pantry is open to ANYONE in the Wausau area that has the need for it. Those who participate are asked to provide their name, address, and the number of persons who will benefit from the food although names of persons who use the pantry are never shared with any other agency and are kept completely confidential. Each participant is provided with two bags of nonperishable groceries such as cereal, canned goods, and boxed meals. Occasionally frozen meats or other foods are available. Funds to operate the food pantry are provided by church members and grants from the Winnebago Presbytery, Second Harvest, and the Roundy’s Corporation.
