Children are always welcome in
worship. The Nursery Room is staffed each week with two
volunteers, and is located on the second floor. It is open for use
any time during worship for children and parents. There are activity bags for children on the coat tree in the front of the
sanctuary. Children are welcome to sit at the tables in front to do
quiet activities during worship.
Free parking is available at the YMCA across 4th Street on Sunday
mornings. Large print bulletins, hymnals, Bibles and personal listening
devices are on the tables near the doors.
For those who use the hearing devices provided by the church:
please do not discard the foam ear covers. The covers are
thoroughly cleaned each week and are reusable. Thank you.
Newsletters and sermons are in the literature racks near the
entrance, and also on the church’s website. The Deadline for
announcements for First Notes is 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday each week.
Deacon Prayer Cards are bright yellow and are available on
the table in the entry. Use these to write a brief note of
encouragement to someone you have been remembering in prayer. Please
drop these yellow cards in the offering plate and we will mail these
to those individuals this week

A big Thank You to all who participated in the youth cake auction

appreciated. These funds will go towards our support of the
Compassion Child and the youth mission trip this summer.
Community Supper: Last week the First United Methodist served
140 meals of chili. This week the Universalist Unitarian Church will
serve Beef Stroganoff over egg noodles, green beans, cottage cheese

no charge for this meal.
The Book of Revelation is the adult Bible study taking place
on Wednesday afternoons at 4:30. Join Lynnette Buzzell to explore
this book. Handouts for the upcoming class are on the counter in the
Library.
Next Sunday, February 12th is the annual Church World Service
Blankets Plus Sunday, with a new twist. G.E.M.S. families
are hosting a Mission Fair with information about several countries
that benefit from this fundraiser. They are providing lunch that
will include foods from the countries represented. An “admission
fee” is requested for the cost of at least one blanket ($5), but
your generosity is appreciated! There is a wishing well display in
the coat room for you to explore and envelopes are available in the
BEAM and in the pew racks for you to use to make your donations. We
hope to raise $1,000 to help people who are struggling. Thank you in
advance for your contributions.
Our Prayer Families this week are: Matthew, Betsy, and
Adeline Simons; Julie Sorenson; Maren Thoreson; Peggie Zepplin; and
Virginia Williams. Each week five families or individuals are
selected at random to be lifted up in prayer. These folks may or may
not have specific joys or concerns at this time, but please join the
staff in praying for them.
Just Because… will meet at the 6th Street Filling Station on
Thursday, February 16 at 2:00 pm. Please note the change in time.
The next Red Tent Gathering about Women of the Tent: Sarah
and Hagar: Journey, will meet Saturday, February 18 from 9 to 11 am.
Participant guides are available in the office. This group is open
to all women.
Interested in serving as a liturgist in worship? There is a
sign-up pad in the coat room, or contact Lynnette Buzzell or a
Worship Team member if you want to volunteer.
Remember to use the yellow Deacon Prayer cards in the pew
racks. They are for your use to write a brief note to someone you
remembered in prayer during the service. Just drop them in the
offering plate and we will mail them for you.
The Per Capita amount for 2012 is $30.38. To date we have
received just over $5,000 of the $12,365 that we need to pay by
March. Thank you for paying yours promptly.
