Welcome to First Presbyterian Church! We are delighted to have
you in our worshipping congregation this morning. We extend a special welcome to
those who are visiting for the first time. Please join us for Fellowship Time in
the parlor after the service.
Nursery Care is available on the second floor during worship for infants
through pre-kindergarten children. Activity bags for children are near
the front entrance to the sanctuary, and children’s bulletins are
available from the ushers.
Large Print Bulletins, Hymnals, Bibles, personal listening devices,
current newsletters, and copies of past sermons may be found on the tables in
the coat room and narthex. An usher will gladly assist you with any of these
items. Free parking is available at the YMCA on Sunday mornings. A radio broadcast of portions of the worship service from the previous Sunday
is aired every Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. on WSAU (550 AM).
The Prayer Corner in the parlor
is open and available for your use throughout the week when the
church is open. It is a self-directed, quiet space for reflection
and prayer.
The
Deadline for announcements for First Notes is 12:00 Noon on Tuesday each
week.

The Radio Broadcast this week is funded by the Worship
Committee budget. Members are invited to sponsor all or part ($50.00
min.) of the $176.00/wk. cost in honor of an individual or a special
event.
The blue carnation on the table today is in celebration of the
birth of William Barton, son of Bill and Carol Zastrow and
brother to Olivia, born on April 25, 2008.
Our sympathy is extended to the family of Gladys Jelen, who
died Monday, April 28, 2008.
“CrossRoads” Education Hour for all ages at 8:45 a.m. on
May 11:
Gathering in the chapel (preschool through 5th grade).
Following the gathering time the children will disperse to classes
to learn about when Jesus sent the Disciples out.
Middle school and Senior High youth meet downstairs.
Adults: Before worship there will be a sermon and scripture
discussion in the library.
The Cross In Our Context, by Douglas J. Hall is the
book for the study with Rev. Wright. The group meets on Thursday
from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Book of Romans Bible Study meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Mary
Anderson is leading us in a study of the Book of Romans. Please read
chapters 5-6 for this week.
A Congregational Meeting will be held immediately following
the Worship Service to elect the following - Elder nominees include:
Rick Builer, Wayne Schmidt, and Allen Roberts (3-year term); Deacon
nominees are: Ann Wicklund, Jane Freitag, Sue Austin, Shannon
Arambel and Wendy Fox. (3-year term). Nominations will be accepted
from the floor with the person’s approval.
Commemorative mugs and sun catchers are here! They are on
display in the coatroom, and sales begin today. Orders will be taken
if we run out of our first shipment.
Salad Recipes for 150th Anniversary cookbook are being collected
through May, but all kinds of recipes are welcome! Leave them in the
church office.
Sunday Community Supper - First English Lutheran Church
served 117 delicious meals last Sunday. Today the Mt. Sinai
Congregation and St. Stephan Lutheran Church will have savory roast
beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, cole slaw,
beverages and desserts on the menu. Please join us.
Food Pantry - Thank You for the donations of food and money
for the Food Pantry. 20 items were received from the Congregation!
Also, thanks to the 9 young girls and the leader from the YWCA who
helped make 35 sets of Food Pantry bags. Help is needed for 1 hour
from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month and on
Monday mornings at 8:15 a.m. to help stock shelves and pack bags.
Basic items needed are cold cereals, macaroni and cheese, cream
soups, saltines, elbow macaroni, wide noodles, fruits and
vegetables, tuna, or any items you can provide. Thank you, The
Health Committee.
150 years of ministry is something to celebrate! It is a time
to be creative in your giving to the 150th Anniversary Fund. What
does 150 years of ministry of this church mean to you? $1 or $10 for
every year of ministry? $10 for each year you have been a member?
Check the library bulletin board for details. Brochures about how to
donate are located in the North entry vestibule and are in the May

The 150th Anniversary Dinner, Sunday, June 8 after worship.
This catered meal is $15/person payable to the church (children 5th
grade and under ½ price, kindergarten and under free). The menu is
located on the bulletin board in the Coat Room. Deadline for
reservations is Friday, May 23. (Reservation forms are in the
May Beam and in the North entry vestibule).
Educational Scholarship application deadline is June 15. High
school graduates and college students are eligible for an
educational scholarship to pursue higher education. Forms are in the
hall outside of the office. Requests should be turned in to the
church office.
