Children are always welcome in
worship! The Nursery Room on the second floor is open for use
any time during worship for children and parents. For children in
worship, there are activity bags outside of the Parlor doors
and children’s bulletins are available from the ushers.
Free parking is available at the YMCA across 4th Street on Sunday
mornings.
Large print bulletins, hymnals, Bibles and
personal listening devices are on the tables near the doors.
For those who use the hearing devices provided by the church:
please do not discard the foam ear covers. The covers are
thoroughly cleaned each week and are reusable. Thank you.
Newsletters and sermons are in the literature racks near the
entrance, and also on the church’s website.
Deacon Prayer Cards are bright yellow and are available on
the table in the hallway. Use these to write a brief note of
encouragement to someone you have been remembering in prayer. Please
drop these yellow cards in the offering plate and we will mail these
to those individuals this week.
The Deadline for announcements for First Notes is 9:00 a.m. on
Tuesday each week.

Community Supper: Last week St. John’s Lutheran Church in the
Town of Easton, served 116 meals of Tator-Tot Casserole. This week
The First United Methodist Church will serve macaroni and cheese
with ham, fruit and dessert. There is no charge for the meal. All
are welcome from 4:00-5:10 pm.
The September Beam is now available on-line.
Nursery Volunteers and Additional Church School Teachers: We
will begin staffing the nursery, and will start church school for
all ages on Sept. 12. We could use one or two more teachers for
younger children (ages 3-4, and K-2) once or twice a month, and seek
volunteers to cover the nursery occasionally. If you would love to
watch our littlest people and haven’t been asked please call Marilyn
Paulson at church.
A Membership Inquiry Class will be held on Sunday, September
12 following worship. This class is an opportunity to learn more
about the Presbyterian Church in general, and our congregation
specifically. If you have an interest in learning more about what
membership means at First Presbyterian you are encouraged to attend.
Contact Marilyn Paulson at church if you have questions and to RSVP.
Office schedule reminder: The church office hours are from
8:00 am through 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and we close at noon
on Friday. Because of vacation schedules, there may be days when the
office closes briefly at mid day or earlier in the afternoon; we
will do our best to post these in advance.
Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will be on vacation through September
12th. Please address any pastoral concerns to Dr. Wright or to the
church office.
Winnebago Presbytery is sponsoring a 2010 Mission Study Trip to
Colombia. Details can be found at the Presbytery website.
Music for Children and Youth will be starting up in a few
weeks. Fourth-through-eighth-graders from our Worship Troupe,
will begin meeting after worship until 11:30 on Sunday, September
12th. Please meet Susan near the hand-bell tables in the Sanctuary.
New Creation Singers is offered for children in grades K-3 on
Wednesdays from 4:00-4:45. Their first rehearsal will be Wednesday,
September 1—earlier this year so that they can prepare a song and
skit for worship on September 12. Call or contact Susan if you have
a student that’s interested in either of these fun music groups:

Reminder to Choirs: Handbells and Chancel Choir will resume
fall rehearsals on Wednesday, September 1! Handbells will finish
preparing for a day-long Handbell Festival on October 16 with John
Behnke

resume on Sept. 1st! Handbells will meet at 6:00 p.m. to polish
bells and review Handbell Festival literature. Chancel Choir will
meet at 6:45 p.m. for a short fellowship time before diving into
worship music for fall. Both groups should bring a snack to share
(Yes, basses, this means you, too.) New members are always welcome

Thank you from the Caring Arms-Deacon Ministry for your
overwhelming support of Franklin School and the YWCA! We received a
record number of school supplies this year! You can continue to
donate through Sunday, September 5th. Thank you for helping make a
difference.
Prayer Families: Each week five families or individuals are
selected at random to be lifted up in prayer. These folks may or may
not have specific joys or concerns at this time but you are invited
to join the staff in praying for these members of our church family
