Children are always welcome in worship! Nursery Care is available on the second floor any time during worship for children ages birth – 6 years. Be sure to notify the nursery worker that your child is present and identify yourself to the volunteer. It is also necessary to sign your child in using the log just inside the nursery door. For children in worship, there are activity bags and children’s bulletins available from the ushers.

Free parking is available at the YMCA across 4th Street on Sunday mornings.

Large print bulletins, hymnals, Bibles and personal listening devices are on the tables near the doors.

Newsletters and sermons are in the literature racks near the entrance, and also on the church’s website.

Deacon Prayer Cards are bright yellow and are available in the pew racks in front of you. Use these to write a brief note of encouragement to someone you have been remembering in prayer. Please drop these yellow cards in the offering plate and we will mail these to those individuals this week.

Today join us at 2:00 PM for a Lenten communion service. We will gather in the chapel as we celebrate the Lord's Supper in service which will be followed by coffee and tea around tables in the parlor. The Deacons welcome your participation. Contact Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers if you need a ride or would like to help.

Community Supper: Last Sunday St. John’s Lutheran Church Youth Group served 131 hot meals. This week the Universal Unitarian Church will serve a spaghetti dinner at 4:00 pm. There is no charge for this meal and all are welcome.

Thank you for the 19 food items donated by members for the Food Pantry this week and for the 167 items donated by the First United Methodist Church. Thanks also for the many donations of clothing! The Food Pantry needs plastic bags. This week we served 76 families which will feed 217 people.

Prayer Families: Each week five families or individuals are selected at random to be lifted up in prayer. These folks may or may not have specific needs. You are invited to join the
staff in praying for these members of our church family this week: Becky Austin (Jilisa, Katelyn, Levi), Myra Boatman, Denis Burgess, Glenn and Ruth Dettinger, Kipp and Linda Exline, (Doran and Emily).

A bus trip to Milwaukee to view the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit is scheduled for Saturday, April 17. We must have reservations as soon as possible in order to secure tickets for the exhibit. The sign-up sheet is on the Action Desk in the Parlor. Contact Marilyn Paulson at church for more information.

CPR and First Aid classes are scheduled for Saturday, March 20. Please sign up at the Action Desk in the Parlor as soon as possible. Contact our Parish Nurse, Rosemary Forbes or Marilyn Paulson at church for more information.

Lenten Organ Recitals, Fridays 12:15 to 12:45 p.m – Each Friday in Lent, the Wisconsin River Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present a recital of music for Lenten meditation. Held at Zion Lutheran Church, Sixth and Grant Streets, on the newly-installed Kegg organ, each week will feature a different member of our local AGO. This Friday, March 12, we will hear Bill Messerschmidt of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wausau. Come and enjoy a peaceful time of good music.

As many of you know, a new pictorial church directory is in the making! March 14th will be the first day you can sign up to have your picture taken. We will have two sign-up areas; one in the Parlor and one in the Coatroom. Please sign up early when the most time slots are available.

Plan to participate in our Maundy Thursday worship service on Thursday, April 1st. We will start with a meal of soup and bread in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m., and then hold worship and communion around the tables. If you are planning to come to this dinner and service, please let us know in advance so that we can plan for an approximate number. This is NOT a reservation – simply an approximate count for planning purposes.
